The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect from May this year. This will become law regardless of Brexit.

All businesses / organisations that hold or process data, no matter their size or purpose, MUST comply with this largest shake up in data regulations in nearly 20 years.

Obligations include:

• Mapping data and considering the legal basis for processing any personal data held;
• Updating all data protection policies, procedures and notices to make them GDPR compliant;
• Reviewing and updating all third party data sharing agreements; and
• Providing the necessary training to all staff and volunteers.

Additional rules also apply to sensitive personal data that your organisation may hold.
