Chattertons Employee is running 12 marathons in 12 months in aid of Anthony Nolan

  • Posted

Laura Coleman-Day, Corporate Solicitor based at Chattertons Newark office, is undertaking a challenge to run 12 marathons in 12 months to raise money for Anthony Nolan. One each month, with her first completed on Saturday, 18th May at Rutland Water and finishing with the London Marathon in April 2025 which happens to be on her wedding anniversary.

Laura’s husband, Xander was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia in September 2022 and required a stem cell transplant. Anthony Nolan has the largest donor register in the world and they found him a suitable match, she wanted to repay Anthony Nolan, but was too old to join their register, so undertook the London Marathon in 2023 and raised just under £10,000 for the charity.

Laura said, “I decided to carry on fundraising for Anthony Nolan when Xander sadly passed away in February 2024 of post-transplant complications. Anthony Nolan is undertaking research into these types of complications, and I want to ensure that no other families have to suffer the same way my son and I have. Hence the 12 marathons in 12 months! Yes, I am mad, but it is for such a worthy cause.”

Following her first run, Laura added, “Well, that's marathon #1 done! Thanks to Nat and Dave for running with me and to Karen for running 10miles with us! Thanks also to our supporters who came from carpark to carpark to bring water and snacks and energy! It's spurred me on for #2 now! Bring it on!”
